The national meeting of researchers from OzFlux sites, OzFlux 2016, was held at the Calperum site. Visitors were able to see the instrumentation and how the surrounding vegetation is steadily recovering since the bushfire of January 2014.
Mallee around the OzFlux tower are growing new shoots from their base.
Swards of Stipa grass have emerged since the fire, but emergent seedlings have struggled to grow in the water limited environment.
The visiting researchers were interested to see Triodia grasses at an unburnt mallee site.
